In simple terms….NO!
Yes I know this has nothing to do with tutorials but I thought hey, its a blog so I can blog about ANYTHING I WANT!
Frankly the fascination surrounding the prophecy sourced from the Mayan Calendar has been over the top. In fact many have cashed in…BIG TIME! From the memorabilia being sold across the web to the Hollywood movie ’2012′.I am in no way saying that the believers/followers are unintelligent or to put it in simpleton terms ‘THICK’ because I too am intregued by the global interest shown in this ‘prophesised’ event.
I have read through various articles and videos explaining how the world ‘WILL’ end on 21-12-12 but I am not convinced that the end of the Mayan calendar means the end of the world. Apparently, there is a galactic alignment happening on the 21st December 2012. Due to precession of the equinoxes (an equinox occurs twice a year, when the tilt of the Earth’s axis is inclined neither away from nor towards the Sun, the center of the Sun being in the same plane as the Earth’s equator), on that day, the sun will appear to come up through the dark area in the center of the Milky Way. It is believed that that spot IS the centre of the universe (and apparently it is pretty darn close….APPARENTLY). Supposedly time as we know it will end on the foretold date (21-12-12)…hmm…WHERE does this prediction come from? The Mayans certainly did not predict the END…and this is where the ‘believers’ go oo soo wrong. They simply had a calendar that happens to end in 2012.
The word ‘Nibiru’ may ring a bell…well this is the planet supposedly discovered by the Sumerians and is thought to be heading towards Earth, and of course collide with us on 21-12-12. Nasa have previously stated that if a PLANET was heading towards us that it would be visible by now….is it?? Obviously it does not exist…
To be honest every ‘REALIST’ rightly realises that the Mayan calendar works just like the calendar in our home (or mobile phones) when we get to the 31st of December the calendar just resets with January the 1st, and the same will happen for the Mayan calendar. The end of the Mayan calendar just means that the Mayan long-count period will end and another will begin.
22-12-12 will come and it will just be another day…much like the hype of Y2K (the year 2000).
Now to put a completely different spin on events, a humorous clip to lighten the mood from the GLOOM AND DOOM….
Now before the haters start hating just know that this article is just a light hearted view on the Mayan calender and the APPARENT prophecy for the end of the world. Most of this is just my opinion and of course everyone is entitled to their own opinion… so would love to hear yours!!
Very interesting point of view! Although I agree with your opinion that the world is NOT going to end in December, I do believe that something will happen. On the other hand, I do not like to talk about my opinion on what will happen openly and then be proven wrong when it does not actually happen, therefore I will not state my full opinion on here or anywhere else on the web, unless specifically asked for it (as in “do you believe that exactly this will happen, yes or no?”). However from what I believe, the occurrences that will happen will not affect the majority of the human race and therefore for most of us the 21st December will just be a normal day.
Regarding the mayan calender: as you said in your article the calender will just reset. The cycle is over and it will restart and that is correct, however maybe you want to think about whether something actually happens at the end of each cycle? Since the earth has survived more than 1 cycle already though we know, that the earth will definitely not end together with the cycle…
